The surface event teased by Panos Panay to reveal the next thing for the brand

Looking forward to announcements from Google and Huawei, the next big event that awaits the world of technology is the Microsoft Surface event that will take place early next month. While there is not much solid evidence of what to expect, most rumors sound like wishful thinking, but most expect Microsoft to take the Surface brand to the next level. This seems to be confirmed by the hype generated by leaders such as Panos Panay to sell the event in October.

Of course, Panay is at the head of Microsoft's Surface division, which is pretty obvious. In fact, his silence would have been particularly revealing of the company's apathy with regard to its own product line. Panay Panos, however, became the public face of Surface and garnered some level of trust among fans. So, when he teases "the rest" for Surface and Microsoft, people are necessarily curious.

Rumors that CEO Satya Nadella would be present this year have even more weight. The highest executive was absent from last year's event, which some saw as a mere incremental upgrade of the company's hardware products. If Nadella will be here this year, something big must happen.

This could fuel rumors about, finally, a Microsoft Mail made concrete in the form of a dual-screen surface. But even without it, the range of Surface devices this year still looks interesting, at least on the basis of rumors. These include the first ARM Powered Surface from Window RT, a Surface Laptop powered by AMD and finally a Surface Pro 2-in-1 tablet with USB-C.

The Microsoft Surface event is scheduled for October 2 at 10 am ET. The event will be broadcast live on the Microsoft site, so stay tuned if you are interested in the evolution of the Surface line.
