The teenager who sacrificed his life to help end the Colorado school shootout will be honored with hundreds of Jeeps

Castillo, the teenager killed last week while he was trying to arrest an armed man during the shootings at STEM School Highlands Ranch, worshiped everything I owned. He saved his money to buy his own Jeep. So, an enthusiastic local Jeep group plans to honor him by escorting his family to the Denver suburban church where the commemorative ceremony will be held.

The Colorado Jeep Girls broadcast this message on social media and, to date, more than 800 "Jeepers" have announced their intention to take part in the special procession.
"Community members really do want to get together and support, as we can," said Catherine Fanaro, founder of Colorado Jeep Girls, to KCNC, a subsidiary of CNN. "It's a huge turnout. I did not think it would become as important as it was, and it's not just the Jeepers. It's other 4 × 4 enthusiasts, car clubs and stuff that spoke up and said: Hey, I want to be part of that. "

The beloved Green Cherokee Jeep from Kendrick will be part of the procession. And just behind, Cherokee will be a jeep driven by her best friend.

"The main thing we really adhered to was the Jeeps," KCNC Charles Burroughs Jr. said, "It's because we both have Jeeps and we've worked together."

On filming day, 18-year-old Kendrick watched "The Princess Bride" in her class of British literature when the shooter pulled out a gun, told everyone not to move and started firing. After Kendrick threw himself on the shooter, three other students also attacked the shooter and tried to control him while the rest of the class left the room.

"Kendrick Castillo died of a legend.He died of a soldier," said Brendan Bialy, another student who jumped the gunman. "I know he'll be with me for the rest of my life."

After Bialy dismissed the shooter's gun, he examined Kendrick and tried to make him talk, but his classmate did not move. Bialy then helped a teacher who entered the room and tried to provide medical help. Kendrick died in school.

Kendrick's parents stated that they were not surprised to learn that their son was running to danger that day.

"It was not your average child," said Father John Castillo. "He was extraordinary."
