The test vehicle & # 39; Starhopper & # 39; of SpaceX makes a short trip with the Raptor engine

While SpaceX continues to develop its Starship vehicle, it is testing for the first time the Raptor engines of the spacecraft. Today, a single-engine Starhopper stopped test vehicle (unlike the more advanced version of Phase 2 presented above) made its first captive jump of a few inches on the Texas launch site, spotted by observers nearby. Elon Musk tweeted "All systems in green" after the test, which may not have gone far, but recalls the beginnings of Grasshopper rocket tests before we get used to the sight of Falcon 9 rocket engines that return to Earth after successful launches.

Musk had previously stated that the suborbital test flights would require three of the engines – the final version of Starship f.k.a BFR will have more – and we are waiting to see when that happens.
