Arc System Works announced during its presentation at the Tokyo Game Show 2021 that The Three Kingdoms of Kunio-kun will feature an online and local co-op. The presentation also featured a brief gameplay demo featuring hololive VTubers Inugami Korone and Sakura Miko. Additionally, Arc System Works revealed the game’s opening animation.

The Three Kingdoms of Kunio-kun, just like other recent Kunio-kun versions, will feature a cooperative mode. This allows multiple players to join in the side-scrolling beat-em-up action. Unlike previous versions like the Kunio-kun: the collection of world classics, Nevertheless, Three kingdoms limits multiplayer to two players only.

As both VTubers demonstrated during the Arc System Works stream, players will be able to attack and hurt each other while playing in co-op. During the gameplay demo, we also got a quick look at the central quest town as well as some of the enemies players will encounter. In one case, Korone accidentally attacked a noble. This resulted in the defeat of both players by the Imperial Guard.
