WASHINGTON – The top three Democratic candidates beat President Trump in direct confrontations, according to a new poll by NBC News / Wall Street Journal.

Former Vice President Joe Biden gets the best results against Trump, getting 51% of the vote against 42%.

Biden works best with independent, white and suburban voters compared to some of the most liberal candidates in the big Democratic realm.

That being said, Senator Bernie Sanders, the self-proclaimed Socialist Democrat, beats Trump by seven percentage points, between 50% and 43%.

Senator Elizabeth Warren also beats Trump outside the margin of error of 3.5% of the poll. She gets 48% of the votes, while Trump gets 43%.

Senator Kamala Harris also wins against Trump, but only by one point.

It is 45% against 44% at Trump.

Biden, Warren, Sanders and Harris are the only candidates to have a double-digit share of Democratic primary voters.

Biden leads with 26% of the vote, followed by Warren, who bypassed his ideological counterpart, Sanders, in the latest poll.

In the NBC News poll, Warren is supported by 19% of respondents, compared to 13% for Sanders.

Harris also received 13% support after his strong performance in the first debate.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg follows with 7% of the vote after South Bend (Indiana).
