The very first Montclair Pride festival to come in June 2022

Out Montclair, the LGBTQ community group founded by Councilor Peter Yacobellis earlier this year, has announced that the township’s first-ever pride festival is slated for next summer.

Montclair Pride 2022 will take place on June 11, according to the nonprofit group, which announced the event with a video on his Facebook and Instagram accounts Thursday.

The video features the monuments and businesses of Montclair, as well as footage from the events organized by Out Montclair this year. Yacobellis says in the video that the event is not just about LGBTQ pride, but pride in “everything Montclair stands for, from our amazing performance venues and museums to our hotels and restaurants, all of our small businesses, everything. what the people who live here are proud of and what people love to come and visit us for.

The organization said in its Facebook post that the festival will “raise awareness and strengthen ties within our community and among all LGBTQ + people and allies in the region.”

While the organization is still working on the details of the event, the announcement post says it will be a day filled with art, culture, food, music and live performances to “uplift people, LGBTQ + issues and history ”.

“Montclair has long been known as a welcoming place for LGBTQ + people, where diversity is embraced and our community is united,” Yacobellis said in the post. “Montclair Pride will be the first time that Montclair has hosted an official pride celebration to elevate these values ​​in a joyful manner and with a renewed determination to be a home where all LGBTQ + people can still be themselves and truly belong. Our very first Pride Festival will represent many of the incredible assets our community is rightly proud of. ”

The post says the event will feature local talent as well as special guests and celebrities who will be featured in the Montclair institutions and businesses that support the festival. News on speakers, artists and locations will be shared soon, according to Out Montclair.

Throughout this year, and until Montclair Pride, Out Montclair will host several events, including its partnership with Montclair Film, notably at the Montclair Film Festival in October.

“This will be the first time that we bring all of this together in a big celebration, not only for LGBT equality, but also to celebrate everything that makes Montclair special, including all of you,” Yacobellis said in the video. “And we are so, so, so excited to announce Montclair Pride, June 2022.”
