The ABC 17 Stormtrack weather team released a weather alert day Tuesday as the threat of severe storms worsens across the plains.
A major epidemic of severe weather is expected in the Plains today, and this same low pressure system will head to Mid-Missouri on Tuesday.
A warm front will rise north on Monday night, bringing the first round of showers and thunderstorms to Mid-Missouri late Monday night to Tuesday morning. These storms will dissipate in the late morning and allow the atmosphere to recover and temperatures reach 70 ° C.
A strong cold front associated with this system will slide east on Tuesday afternoon. Instability may be somewhat limited by morning activity, but there will be a lot of wind shear (increasing or wind-turning with altitude) around the area for storms to occur. form in line of grains moving rapidly.
