<h2><strong>Kaer Morhen</strong></h2>
<p>The wizards of the Wolf School, including Geralt and Vesemir, train and spend their winters in the mountain fortress of Kaer Morhen. It’s a ruin as we see it in The Witcher Season 2, having been destroyed by a mob and a group of mages who viewed the Witchers as monsters themselves. Here we see the dungeon in its former glory, but the ominous voiceover hints at its future fate.</p>
<h2><strong>Theo James’ Vesemir and a Witcher’s Message</strong></h2>
<p>Here’s Vesemir going through the post read at the start of the trailer. A diary entry in The Price of Neutrality<em> </em>mod for the original game Witcher<em> </em>notes that “various libelous Witchers publications” were responsible for inciting the Kaer Morhen bombing. Presumably, this is one of them.</p>

Golden eyes
A close-up of Vesemir shows the golden eyes that mark wizards who have undergone the herbal test, an extremely dangerous and painful alchemical and medical procedure that kills most would-be initiates. Those who survive acquire the ability to see in the dark as well as improved senses and reflexes. They also age much slower than a normal person. These mutations are one of the main reasons why so many people fear wizards.
Oiled blade
Wizards can coat their swords with oils to make them more dangerous, often adapting them to be particularly wicked against specific types of monsters. Presumably, a witcher comes to the defense of this child prepared for battle.
Aard sign
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf introduces a few new characters, including Deglan (voiced by Graham McTavish of The Hobbit and Castlevania). It was Vesemir’s mentor who claimed it based on the Law of Surprise. Here he is using the Aard sign to blow up a woman. She is probably actually a bruxa, a very powerful vampire capable of assuming the appearance of a human with dark hair. In The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion, the Aard sign is the best way to kill bruxa as the telekinetic attack will knock them down and allow you to kill them with a single sword blow.
Mandatory bathtub scene
Apparently all of Witcher’s stories have to show their protagonists taking a luxurious bath. We don’t make the rules.
Bloody medallions
It appears to be an entire bag full of bloodied witcher medallions, the necklaces worn by all witers that alert them to the presence of monsters or magic nearby. It seems that in addition to infuriating the people with rhetoric, someone can actively hunt monster slayers.
Vesemir with search sign
A smug-looking Vesemir poses with a sign offering a reward to a dark-haired witch as people throw money at him, eager to enlist his services. The wanted woman could be the bruxa or a witch who attacks the inhabitants. Either way, “fear and ignorance are good business,” Vesemir said with a wink.
Vesemir and Tetra
Tetra (voiced by Lara Pulver from Sherlock and DOTA: Dragon’s Blood) is another new character. She appears to be a skilled archer who teams up with Vesemir. It is possible that she is the “witch” he was initially looking for.
Wanted posters
Geralt often struggles to find paid work, but Vesemir doesn’t seem to have that problem. Monsters and witers were more common in the past, but monster populations declined as humans conquered more of the continent. It looks like this area has a werewolf problem and Vesemir is on the case.
Vesemir fights ghouls
Ghouls roam in packs, eating corpses and living humans or livestock. They can be killed by a Silver Sword, but fire is one of the most effective ways to send a group of them. Vesemir looks pretty confident as he takes down the monsters with a flame and a blade.
Lots of ghouls
It’s a whole bunch of ghouls hanging around. This is probably how the fight begins before Vesemir sets them all on fire.
Drink a potion
Beyond the herbal test, wizards also craft and drink potions that can further improve their senses, stamina, and stamina. That of Vesemir which gives him the same dark and veined eyes that Geralt sports in The Witcher.
Spectrum
It appears to be a form of a specter, a ghost wholly motivated by his hatred of the living. Like ghouls, they are often found around graveyards, so it’s possible that this is part of the same fight scene we saw earlier.
Seal of the wolf
It is the symbol of the school of the wolf which deforms to look more like a wolf skull. Considering the film’s name is Nightmare of the Wolf, it could be some sort of prophetic warning of the devastation to come.
Alps
The naked woman here is an alp, a type of vampire similar to a bruxa but less powerful. She fights alongside some form of draconid and reptilian monsters with bat wings that can double as guard animals. Tetra asks Vesemir if they are his friends and he blithely replies that Alp is a “friend of a friend”, which could imply that they are looking for his mentor Deglan, or maybe they are servants. some bruxa that Vesemir hunts.
Whatever the situation here, it probably won’t end very well for these creatures facing off against Vesemir!
