The snow is in the forecast this weekend. A Saturday morning storm could drop half a foot of snow on Boston by the time everything is said and done. And once the storm is over, there's another one around the corner. An additional 6 to 8 inches could fall on Sunday night in Monday, if current forecasts are true.

In anticipation of Saturday's storm, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the counties of Bristol and Plymouth, as well as a winter storm warning for east and central Massachusetts.

Timing

The weather service is expecting snow to begin in Boston around 5 am Saturday. Due to the trajectory of the storm, Cape Town, the Islands and the South Shore will see the snow before the rest of the state, with tee times as early as 11pm. Friday on Nantucket.

The South Shore could also accumulate 6 to 8 inches, and the west could see 2 to 3 inches. On the cape and islands, the totals vary depending on the location. With regard to the storm that hit Sunday, forecasters warn that there is still uncertainty as to the rain-snow line and track, so the totals could change. However, starting Friday afternoon, forecasters expect an increase of 6 to 8 inches in Boston, only a few centimeters falling on the south coast and 12 inches in the central and western mass.
