This 2 year old deaf girl loves people – her neighborhood is learning to learn sign language

Hearing impairment can often be a social barrier for those who can not speak sign language – but in this small Massachusetts city, sign language has actually brought the community closer together.

Samantha Savitz, 2 years old, is deaf, but that does not stop her from being a sociable little toddler. Whenever Samantha is with her parents in their town of Newton, she tries to chat with everyone she meets.

As the girl grew up, she was continually trying to befriend her neighbors – and they were all sorry they could not answer because they did not know sign language.

Rather than give up, the whole community started taking sign language classes in order to communicate with Samantha.
