This could be our first look at the Galaxy Fold 2 – BGR

As we get closer to the (supposed) release of Samsung's Galaxy Fold (supposed) handset, a fun thing is still happening. Foldable smartphones seem to be an important part of Samsung's long-term product roadmap, so the company continues to patent a foldable design one after another, but we can now have our first glimpse of this. what the Galaxy Fold 2 might look like.

It seems that Samsung has applied for three new folding phone design patents two weeks ago. They were published Monday in the database of the Office of Intellectual Property of the European Union, and the team of the Dutch technical news site LetsGoDigital has prepared color renderings (above) based on the sketches of the patent documentation.

Patents reveal three new folding Samsung models (with LetsGoDigital speculating on these could be 2020 models). Two of the designs look a lot like what we get with the September Galaxy Fold, the key difference being a smaller notch when deploying these new designs.

A third model, meanwhile, shows a horizontally folding phone instead of a vertically folding phone:

Often, when they report on the approval of patents such as these, they relate to drawings that have been worked on and applied some time ago. Again, it is interesting to note that all these requests have been created and approved in a flashover over the past two weeks. And it's an intriguing thought – since there is such a resemblance here with the design that Samsung has decided to accept for the first Galaxy Fold – to consider that this could show us the features of the Galaxy Fold 2.

IFA 2019 will start on September 6th in Berlin. It is therefore possible that we may be aware of the final release date of Samsung Galaxy Fold. But already, it seems, the company is working hard on everything that will follow.
