The keto diet has long been touted as one of the best ways to lose fat, and while that may be true, new study shows that there may still be better ways to lose weight and reduce your fat. consumption. Research published in Nature medicine looked at both the keto diet and a plant-based low fat diet to see which one is more effective, and the results might surprise you.

The study was led by a scientist from the National Institutes of Health, Kevin Hall. Hall took a group of 20 people and put half of them on a keto diet, which is a low-carb, high-fat diet, and he put half the people on a high-carb, low-fat, and fat diet. herbal. They all stuck to their diet for two weeks and then switched to each other. This way, Hall was able to get each subject’s results for both diets to really see which one worked best for intake, insulin levels, and overall fat loss.

At the end of the study, Hall found that those who followed a low-fat diet had a greater reduction in intake: by around 700 calories per day, on average. On keto, the drop was closer to 300 calories per day. Hall also noted that the low-fat diet resulted in a bit more fat loss than the keto, but that was minimal. However, the study was only for a short period of time, so it’s a bit difficult to know how much extra fat could have been lost over a longer period of time.

Hall wanted above all to look at the insulin levels of the subjects, with whom he shared The Washington Post. As The post office points out, your body processes carbohydrates with insulin and when you cut down on carbohydrates, like you do with the keto diet, it affects your body’s insulin level. In this study, Hall found that while the low-fat diet reduced intake, he said The post office, the subjects’ insulin levels were “through the roof”. (Related: Is The Keto Diet Safe? Each diet will work differently for each body, and if you are looking for a lifestyle change to lose fat or cut a few inches, your best bet is to work with your health care provider to determine what will work best for you. While a keto diet is effective in helping people lose weight, it may not be the best choice for you, and it is definitely not a long-term diet. Thanks to this study, we now know that a low fat diet can be just as effective, if not more, in helping you lose fat.

As always, studies are constantly being done on all of these diets, and scientists and researchers are learning more and more about them every day. For more health information, be sure to Subscribe to our newsletter.
