This popular app could be the source of your iPhone’s terrible battery life

A fix is ​​on the way

The battery life issue is so prevalent that Spotify itself acknowledged it about two weeks ago.

At the time, Spotify recommended affected users to completely remove the app and run a clean install.

IPhone users who want to try this approach should do the following:

  1. Open Spotify. In the app settings (you can access it by going to Home, then tapping the gear icon in the top right corner), tap Storage and then tap Clear cache.
  2. Head to your device’s settings and then tap on General.
  3. Tap iPhone storage.
  4. Select Spotify from the list of apps.
  5. Tap Unload app and confirm. This will delete the application but the data of its documents will be kept.
  6. Then tap Remove app and confirm. This action should delete all remaining documents and data.
  7. Once the app is deleted, press and hold the side / up button and one of the volume buttons until the power off slider appears.
  8. Drag the slider to turn off your device completely.
  9. After your device is turned off, wait a few minutes.
  10. Press and hold the top (or side) button again until the screen lights up.
  11. Turn your device back on and install Spotify from the App Store.

Spotify also said that users should try to turn off background app refresh by going to Settings> General> Background app refresh.

A moderator from the Spotify team said all relevant information has been passed to the appropriate engineering teams. As an avid Spotify user myself, I hope a fix arrives as soon as possible.
