Tiger Woods says he will not participate in the Honda Classic next week

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida – One of golf's biggest names will not be competing at next week's Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens.

Tiger Woods, a resident of Jupiter Island, tweeted Thursday on Twitter, he will miss this year's tournament, which begins on February 28 at the PGA National.

Tiger said in a tweet that he would "take leave next week" and "sorry to miss seeing Jack (Nicklaus) and everyone at Honda."

However, many other stars will participate in the tournament, including defending champion Justin Thomas, the double winner of the US Open and Brooks Koepka, a native of Palm Beach County, Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott and Ernie Els.
