PGA is hosting its first official event in Japan this fall.
It will not be sending Team B.
Calling Japan one of his "favorite countries", Tiger Woods announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he would participate in the first ZOZO championship.
Woods can also play an exhibition game in Japan
The tournament will be held October 24-27, outside of Tokyo, at the Accordia Golf Country Club Narashino.
Woods' agent Mark Steinberg told ESPN that Woods could participate in an exhibition during the trip to Japan similar to the Thanksgiving weekend match he played against Phil Mickelson last year.
"We have not set up what the field will look like," Steinberg said. "What would be the size of the land? What kind of format would they play? The exact date? We would like to do it at the very first PGA Tour event in Japan. "
Woods has just won his fifth Masters win and his first major victory since 2008.
Its resurgence is a boost for the PGA and will provide the tour with a remarkable entry into a new country.
