Tim Cook Says Employees Leaking Memos Are Not Apple Owned, Leaked Memo Says

Tim Cook emailed Apple employees on Tuesday night about a repeatedly leaked meeting that was leaked to The edge Last week. He said the company was doing “everything in our power to identify those who disclosed” and noted that “people who disclose confidential information do not belong” to Apple.

On September 17, Tim Cook announced at a company-wide internal meeting that Apple would require frequent testing for unvaccinated employees, but stop ahead of a vaccine tenure. He also said he “looks forward to moving forward” after the Epic v. Antitrust case. Apple. Shortly after the meeting, the two news items were leaked to The edge.

Now Cook is associating the news with product leaks – which the company has always tried to track down.

Read the full transcript of Cook’s email:

Dear team,

It was great to be in touch with you at the Global Employee Meeting on Friday. There was a lot to celebrate, from our remarkable new product line to our values-driven work around climate change, racial equity and privacy. It was a good opportunity to reflect on our many accomplishments and to have a discussion about what you had in mind.

I’m writing today because I’ve heard that many of you are incredibly frustrated to see the meeting content leaked to reporters. This comes after a product launch in which most of the details of our announcements were also leaked to the press.

I want you to know that I share your frustration. These opportunities to connect as a team are really important. But they only work if we can be confident that the content will stay within Apple. I want to reassure you that we are doing everything in our power to identify those who fled. As you know, we do not tolerate the disclosure of confidential information, whether it is the intellectual property of a product or the details of a confidential meeting. We know that the leakers are a small number of people. We also know that people who divulge confidential information have no place here.

As we look forward to it, I want to thank you for all you have done to make our products a reality and for all you will do to put them in the hands of customers. Yesterday we released iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and watchOS 8, and Friday marks the time we share some of our amazing new products with the world. There is nothing better than this. We will continue to measure our contributions in the lives we change, the connections we have and the work we do to make the world a better place.

Thank you,

Tim
