Tom Ricketts, co-owner of Cubs spoke to reporters today in an effort to outrun his father's team and co-owner Joe Ricketts, whose racist messenger box was made public by Splinter earlier this month. Tom also offered a mediocre defense from his father, which in some way resulted in him blaming his father's horrible thoughts at the news.

After first reiterating that his father had "no direct role or economic interest" in the Cubs, Tom assured reporters that he had never heard his father "say anything of racist distance ". He ended up explaining by explaining the anti-Islam emails father had sent, which included passages such as: "… we can never let Islam become an important part of our society. Muslims are naturally my (our) enemy because of their deep antagonism and their bias against non-Muslims. "

I think some of the things that he wrote about Islam, and he put that in his own statement, were colored by the news of the day in the Middle East. And that's another important point, because we all have to fight very hard not to let that very small percentage of people create all this information, we can not let that darken anyone who does not like it.

What a good point. We must all do a better job of not letting "news of the day" turn us into furious Islamophobes with skulls filled with soup. All of us adults who have survived without understanding how racism and prejudices work, the third degree, must work harder not to hate all Muslims just because we saw ISIS guys in Fox News. Being a wealthy white billionaire with a box of overflowing racist jokes and deranged conspiracy theories about how Muslims will destroy America is such a universal, and therefore totally excusable experience.

Whatever the case may be, Tom Ricketts has somehow found a way to get even more bullshit out of his press conference:

Has a sports franchise ever become so detestable in such a short time?
