The Tony Fisher Award is presented to the News-Herald Football Player of the Year. It is named after the former Ohio winner Mr. Football, a graduate of Euclid, who went on to play Notre Dame and play in the NFL.
The Fisher Award Watchlist may and will change weekly.
This week’s watchlist, in alphabetical order, is:
Ryan Baer, North, Sr.: Rated 89 percent in Rangers’ 38-7 defeat in the south. For the season, the 6-foot-7, 320-pounder has 21 pancake blocks.
Derell Bedingfield, Benedictine, Sr.: The Bengals haven’t played a game in Week 5. For the season, he has 35 tackles, two sacks and three TFLs leading the team. He also scored a pair of touchdowns.
Brandon Boyd, Benedictine, Jr.: The Bengals did not play a game in week 5. For the season, he has 19 catches for 378 yards and four touchdowns.
Rick Coleman Jr., Harvey, Sr.: Ran for 28 yards and a touchdown, threw for 57 yards and returned a 99-yard kick for a touchdown in the Red Raiders’ 27-21 loss to Cardinal. For the season, he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns, ran for 404 yards and eight touchdowns, and also leads the team in return yards.
Jaxon French, Lake Catholic, Sr.: Throw for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the Cougars’ 27-20 loss to Kenston. For the season, he threw for 875 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Nikko Georgiou, Kenston, Jr.: Was injured and did not play in the Bombers 27-20 win on the catholic lake. For the season, he threw for 557 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 119 yards and four scores.
JP Germano, Kenston, Sr.: Worn 35 times for 215 yards and two touchdowns in the Bombers’ 27-20 win on the catholic lake. For the season, he ran for 551 yards and four touchdowns, caught 11 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns, and pitched for 87 yards and two scores.
Alex Henry, Chardon, Jr .: Ran for 86 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 49 yards and a score in the Hilltoppers 41-7 win over Mayfield. For the season, he ran for 390 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Dominic Johnson, Hawken, Jr .: For the season, he ran for 722 yards and 11 touchdowns, while catching 10 passes for 153 yards.
Andy Kavcic, Gilmour, So.: The Lancers did not play a game in week five. For the season, he ran for 370 yards and four touchdowns and pitched for 386 and six touchdowns.
Colin Quinlan, South, Jr.: Completed 12 of 13 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran for 59 yards and a score in the Rebels’ 38-7 win over the north. For the season, he threw for 780 yards and eight touchdowns, while rushing for 444 yards and four scores.
Terrence Robinson II, Hawken: For the season, he threw for 632 yards and nine touchdowns and ran for 365 yards. He scored six touchdowns with two 2-point conversions.
Tanelle Rose, Brush, So. : Worn three times for 38 yards in the Arcs 34-0 victory over Akron North. For the season, he ran for 803 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Mason Rus, Kirtland, Sr.: Worn 14 times for 192 yards and three touchdowns in the Hornets 37-7 victory over Geneva. For the season, he ran for 580 yards and eight touchdowns. He also has 32 tackles and six TFLs.
Tyrone Singleton, South, Jr.: Carried eight times for 127 yards and three TDs in the Rebels’ 38-7 win over the north. For the season, he ran for 444 yards and scored eight touchdowns.
Gage Sullivan, Kirtland, Sr.: Caught two passes for 23 yards and scored on a 32-yard rush in the Hornets’ 37-7 win over Geneva. For the season, he caught 15 passes for 310 yards and six touchdowns and carried four times for 80 yards and two scores. He also has 16 tackles and four assists.
Danny Stewart, West Geauga, Sr.: Thrown a touchdown and ran for a touchdown in the Wolverines 50-13 win over Edgewood. For the season, he threw for 637 yards and seven touchdowns.
Ceejay Yarboro, Benedictine, Sr.: The Bengals haven’t played a game in Week 5. For the season, he threw for 780 yards and nine interceptions. He also scored twice with a two-point conversion.
