Too much exercise could lead to bad decisions, according to a new study from Current Biology magazine.

The athletes in the study were overworked for three out of nine weeks and compared to a control group with a normal nine-week training program. Overworked athletes did less well on a physical test and failed the temptation tests.

For example, they were more likely to say that they wanted $ 10 now instead of $ 50 in six months.

The scientists behind the study say that this could explain why some athletes make the decision to use performance enhancing drugs.

A warning for the extrapolation of the results of the study: the scientists say that the study was conducted on athletes of elite endurance. According to them, this is interesting information that suggests that dedicated athletes should exercise regularly, but that may not apply to average Joe.
