Creators pay tribute to Alber Elbaz to end PFW

Forty-five designers paid tribute to the late designer, Alber Elbaz, during a spectacular closing of Paris Fashion Week. AZ Factory hosted the tribute – Love brings love – with many top labels presenting their own interpretations of his famous works. Nicolas Ghesquière, Demna Gvasalia, Jean Paul Gaultier, Olivier Rousteing and Kim Jones were some of the names featured, alongside Raf Simons, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Thom Browne, Maria Grazia Chiuri and many more. The pieces on the runway were instantly familiar, including giant bows, chunky-rimmed glasses, bespoke suits, asymmetrical silhouettes, and portraits of the late designer.

Alber Elbaz was an Israeli designer who infused his love for women with an obvious flair for fashion. He served as Creative Director for Lanvin from 2001 to 2015, before AZ Factory in 2019. He died in April 2021 of the year of complications from COVID at the age of 59. “Tonight’s celebration for our dear Alber was a magical time – celebrating talent talent is a remarkable tribute to the man we all loved so much,” said Laurent Malecaze, CEO of AZ Factory.

Adele presents two November issues of Vogue

Adele tops two Vogue covers for November – American and British. This is the first time someone has appeared on the cover of two editions of Vogue at the same time, according to the post. For British Vogue, she appears in a custom Vivienne Westwood dress and dons a green Valentino dress for American Vogue. Steven Meisel photographed the first shoot and Alasdair McLellan shot the second.

The award-winning singer has announced that she will be releasing her long-awaited album after an almost six-year hiatus. She appears in a corset dress by Dolce & Gabanna, a coat by Helen Yarmak, Louis Vuitton and Chanel throughout the cover. “There are few artists who can captivate the world like Adele,” said Edward Enninful, editor-in-chief of British Vogue. “In the November issue… she talks to Giles Hattersley about divorce, body image, romance, single parenthood and her ‘self-redemption’ album – as she prepares to upset again the emotional well-being of a billion music fans. “

Stella McCartney Champions Mushroom Leather in SS22

Stella McCartney launched her SS22 ready-to-wear collection with a touch of originality. This season, she brought mushroom leather into the equation, with a new bag called the Frayme Mylo, created with an artificial leather made from mycelium, which helps form mushrooms. In collaboration with Bolt Threads, the design is based on an original from Stella McCartney’s existing collections. McCartney said that a few years ago the technology was not advanced enough to produce bags with leather alternatives. “Now we’re at the point where I feel I can deploy it. Otherwise I wouldn’t have put him on the track, ”she said. The rest of her collection is the most durable yet, created using doll fabrics and regenerated nylon, in the form of cutout bodysuits, floral dresses, costumes, and an energetic color palette.

Chanel pays homage to nostalgia catwalks for SS22

Chanel was inspired by the 80s and its SS22 collection. Reminiscent of a Karl Lagerfeld era, the collection featured key references to nostalgia, such as back and white swimsuits, bold logos, quilted leather skirt suits, tweed twin sets and floating printed butterflies. From the collection, the creative director Virginie Viard said she wanted to pay tribute to the photographers of Chanel, the parades and the models. “I loved the sound of the flashes going off on runway shows in the ’80s, when the models were on an elevated runway,” she said. “I wanted to find this emotion again. Throughout the show, George Michael’s Freedom! ’90 echoed across Place Joffre, with photographers crowding the edges of the track, taking photos. Viard’s reason was “because fashion is about clothes, models and photographers”.

HoYeon Jung is the new face of Louis Vuitton

Squid Game star HoYeon Jung is the new Louis Vuitton fashion, watch and jewelry ambassador. She performs alongside Naomi Osaka, Eileen Gu and Chiara Ferragni, among others. The South Korean model and actress has previously worked for Louis Vuitton, hitting the runway for their RTW 2017 collection. She was launched onto the world stage as Kang Sae-byeok in Squid Game, a hugely popular Netflix series. “I immediately fell in love with the great talent and fantastic personality of HoYeon,” said Nicolas Ghesquière, Creative Director of Louis Vuitton. “I can’t wait to start this new chapter in the journey we started at Louis Vuitton a few years ago. “
