TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The Presbyterian mansion in Topeka has lost a 10th resident to COVID-19 and has found more positive cases of the virus through testing.
Topeka Presbyterian Manor says it lost another resident on Saturday who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 and that other cases of the virus were identified through viral testing.
“During this incredibly difficult time, our prayers remain with the family,” said Heather Pilkinton, Executive Director.
According to the TPM, the resident was taken care of by staff appointed by order of the centers for disease control and prevention and doctors. He said he continues to monitor residents for signs and symptoms of the virus.
This is the 10th resident that the establishment has lost since the start of the epidemic.
TPM said a healthcare resident tested positive for the virus after being tested on Monday, November 23. He said the resident will be looked after in a designated area and by designated staff.
In addition, TPM said it found two essential health workers and a non-direct care worker who also tested positive for the virus. He said the first essential healthcare worker last worked on November 20, the other last on November 24, and the non-direct employee last worked on November 22. . He said contact tracing did not reveal any further exposure.
The facility said it remains in close contact with the Shawnee County Department of Health and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. He also said that Dr Kevin Sundbye, community medical director, was working closely with TPM to manage the ongoing outbreak.
