A town man is accused of stealing a vehicle, according to court documents.

Carlos Eric Lawrence, 42, was arraigned Tuesday by District Judicial Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio on counts of theft through illegal appropriation and receipt of stolen property, the criminal record said.

Police accuse Lawrence of stealing a 2008 Kia Rio after being told by the owner that he was not authorized to drive the vehicle.

When approached by police, Lawrence said he was using the vehicle to get to work, but police subsequently confirmed that Lawrence was unemployed.

Unable to post a $ 10,000 cash bond, Lawrence is currently being held in Blair County Jail.

He is due to appear before DeAntonio on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
