Traeger makes integrated WiFi a standard grill function

[ad_1]

The numbers in the Traeger product names correspond to their cooking surface. For example, the Pro 575 offers 575 square inches of cooking space. Do not forget these new models. These grills also offer temperature ranges that make them ideal for slow cooking barbecues and high temperature cooking operations. They use electricity to heat and burn wood pellets, so they must have access to an outlet, or at least an extension cord.

Traeger's Pro Series has been the company's option for a wood pellet grill large enough to cook a considerable amount of food without completely emptying the savings account. You can call this the mid-range option – Traeger offers cheaper, more expensive and larger options. Two new models, the Pro 575 and the Pro 780, still do it, but the main addition here is WiFi. This means that you benefit from an additional advantage in remote control / monitoring and the ability to send recipes from the Traeger application.

The new Pro series grills also feature Traeger's D2 direct drive, which uses a new fan and a new auger to keep the smoke moving. The screw can also be reversed if it encounters a pellet jam. Traeger says that the D2 configuration also allows grills to heat up faster (or TurboTemp), and that these new Pro Series models are up to 450 degrees. Perhaps the best part is the new Pro 575 and Pro 780, which will stay at current Pro Series prices of $ 800 and $ 1,000 respectively. The existing models of the Pro non-WiFi series, the Pro 34 and Pro 22, now cost $ 750 and $ 650 respectively.

The Ironwood Series is a brand new entry in the Traeger lineup and a midrange option for these new WiFire equipped models. The Ironwood 650 and Ironwood 885 have a pill-like design similar to that of the Timberline series. According to Traeger, this construction activates the so-called DownDraft exhaust and TRU convection functions to help optimize cooking times. These two elements also debuted on the Timberline. So it's nice to see these features turn into more affordable grills.

The Ironwood series also features Timberline's Super Smoke mode, an option that increases smoke output at the touch of a button. And yes, you can activate it from the Traeger mobile app. Ironwood grills also have a convenient warm-up mode if you need it (also on the Timberline). The D2 Direct Drive is there too, and both models can cook at temperatures between 165 and 500 degrees. Basically, the Ironwood series offers a lot of what you would get with the more expensive Timberline, but with smaller grills at more affordable prices. The Ironwood 650 costs $ 1,200 and the Ironwood 885, $ 1,400.

Finally, the Timberline series that started in 2017 is back, but with some notable improvements. The sizes are still the same, the Timberline 850 and the gigantic Timberline 1300, but both units now use the enhanced D2 Direct Drive that the Pro and Ironwood series also use. The main addition here is a pellet detection function that monitors the level of wood pellet in the hopper so you do not fear to run out.

The Timberline 850

This is generally not a problem unless you do not fill the hopper before the cook or if you have something that takes a lot longer to finish (chest, for example). However, as an exhausted person and having to restart the grill while cooking, this tool should avoid some headaches. The pellet detection technology will also keep track of the levels in the app, so you can check your offer while you are shopping.

As before, the Timberline series also offers three removable grill grills to help you maximize the cooking space. These new Timberlines however cost more than the first pair: the Timberline 850 costs $ 1,800 and the Timberline 1300, $ 2,000.

The new Pro Series and Ironwood models are now available. The new Timberline series is available for pre-order and ships within 4 to 6 weeks.

Even with other updates, WiFi connectivity remains the main attraction of the new Traeger grid line. The company is not the only one to build grids that you can control or monitor remotely. For example, both Green Mountain and Rec Tec have WiFi-compatible models, and in some cases the options of these two models are more affordable than Traeger. I can not speak to you about the quality because I have not used them, but know that you have several options if you are looking for a pellet grill connected this spring.
