Trevon Diggs showing he could be the Cowboys’ best cornerback since Deion Sanders – The Athletic

ARLINGTON, Texas – Dak Prescott knew the Cowboys had a special cornerback in their lineup during training camp practice last year at the Star.

In consecutive two-minute drills, a rookie named Trevon Diggs knocked him out twice.

“I knew then that there were certain routes and certain concepts that you have to know where he is and you have to know his position,” Prescott said Sunday after the Cowboys’ 36-28 win over the Carolina Panthers. “He’s just a hell of a player and he’s going to keep getting intercepted for the way he studies, the way he runs the game.”

Diggs, the brother of Buffalo Bills star receiver Stefon Diggs, entered Sunday’s game at AT&T Stadium with a three-steal streak in their first three games, helping him win the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award.

Not only did he keep the streak alive, but he repeated what he did against Prescott in that training camp practice on back-to-back possessions in the third quarter.

The first came in a third and 5 situation with Carolina trying to come back from a 26-14 deficit with 3:48 left in the quarter.
