DES MOINES, IOWA – Former President Trump has taken on the massive spending bill that President Biden and Congressional Democrats are trying to push through, calling it a “monstrosity” and “so dangerous to our country.” .
Trump’s attacks on multibillion-dollar human infrastructure, social spending and the climate change package came while he was holding a rally in Iowa on Saturday. It was the former president’s first step into the competitive Central Plains state since last year’s elections.
Iowa is also the state whose caucuses kicked off the presidential appointment schedule over the past half-century, and Trump’s ruling is sparking growing speculation that he will host another White House in 2024.

Iowa was once a key state on the battlefield, but Trump comfortably won it in his 2016 and 2020 campaigns.
He arrived in Hawkeye state after earning his top favorable marks in the Des Moines Register poll, considered the gold standard in that part of the country.
Fifty-three percent of Iowans had a favorable opinion of the former president and 45% have an unfavorable opinion, according to the Des Moines Register / Mediacom survey released on Monday. And among Republicans alone, he was at a 91% favor level.
Trump touted the poll, saying “we are the highest we have ever been.”
He also highlighted his victory in Iowa last November, adding “you have proven why Iowa should vote first in the nation.”
The former president took a few beating on a small group of GOP senators, led by Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, for allowing the Democratic majority earlier this week to temporarily lift the debt ceiling, which has prevented the country from defaulting.

“Thinking we had 11 Republicans with an extension, led by Mitch McConnell,” Trump said, eliciting boos from the large crowd of supporters at the rally site at the Iowa Fairgrounds.
Trump has also repeatedly pilloried his successor in the White House for his handling of the difficult U.S. withdrawal and evacuation from Afghanistan. He also criticized Biden for the influx of migrants trying to cross the country’s southern border with Mexico, and for the surge in COVID cases as the highly infectious delta variant spread across the country.
