American Democrats accused Mr. Barr of acting on behalf of the president
US President Donald Trump has ordered US intelligence agencies to cooperate with an investigation to determine whether he had been spied on in the 2016 elections.
The investigation, headed by Attorney General William Barr, examines the origins of the investigation conducted in Russia.
It has been a long time since Mr. Trump asks for it, and often calls the investigation investigation into Russia's interference with "witch hunt".
On Thursday, he announced a directive giving Mr. Barr new powers, including declassifying documents.

Earlier this month, Barr commissioned a federal prosecutor to examine the origins of the investigation conducted in Russia. Mr. Trump denied having asked Mr. Barr to do so.
Thursday's memorandum asks the head of intelligence agencies to "promptly provide" information to Mr. Barr at his request.
"Today's action will help to ensure that all Americans learn the truth about the events that occurred and the actions taken in the last presidential election and restore confidence in our public institutions, "said press secretary Sarah Sanders in a statement.
That discovered the investigation on Russia?
After almost two years, a written version of the report written by Special Advocate Robert Mueller was published in April.
The report concluded that Russia had been ingested "systematically and systematically" in the 2016 presidential election, without, however, concluding that there was a criminal conspiracy between them and the campaign. Trump.

How did the Democrats react?
The chairman of the House's intelligence committee is among those who criticized the announcement of expanded power.
"Trump and Barr are conspiring to arm the forces of order and classified information against their political enemies," Adam Schiff said on Twitter.
"The hiding has entered a new dangerous phase, it's non-American," he added.
This comes at a time of already strong tension between high-ranking Democrats and President Trump.
He and Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi on Thursday exchanged rumors about their mental stability after Trump abruptly interrupted a meeting earlier this week.
Mr. Trump announced the end of any bipartisan cooperation with Democrats until the end of all their investigations.

Ms. Pelosi accused Mr. Barr of committing a crime by lying to Congress at a hearing on the report – an allegation that he described as "laughable".
