Trump spokesman Jason Miller confirmed on Saturday that the former president plans to form a super PAC, which can raise unlimited sums from virtually any source and face no spending limits.
Trump also made several changes on Saturday to his growing fundraising apparatus. In filings with the Federal Election Commission, he converted both his presidential campaign committee, Donald J. Trump for president, and his PAC leadership, Save America, into two political action committees that can support other candidates. Trump’s campaign committee has become the Make America Great Again PAC – or MAGA PAC.
The new committees are now bound by a joint fundraising agreement that Miller said “would make fundraising more effective.” Pooled fundraising deals typically allow politicians to get a single, larger check from a donor, and then split the money among multiple committees.
Trump has already amassed millions of dollars in contributions since the creation of Save America following the November election and bombarding his supporters with false claims that voter fraud contributed to his defeat.
