Trump supporters rally at Michigan Capitol

LANSING, Michigan (AP) – People waving US and Trump flags gathered on the Michigan Capitol on Saturday as speakers cast doubt on the November 3 election results and urged Republican lawmakers to pass Michigan election votes to the president.

“We all know the president won a landslide victory on Tuesday and it must stay that way,” insisted Mark Johnston of Grosse Pointe Woods.

Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump by more than 140,000 votes in Michigan, unofficial results show. But since the election, the campaign and some residents have taken legal action alleging fraud in the counting of mail-in votes in Detroit.

However, the judges refused to stop the certification of the results. There is no evidence of widespread fraud in the US election. Judge Timothy Kenny said the claims in Detroit were not “credible”.

Randy Bishop, a conservative radio host in northern Michigan, urged Republican leaders in the Legislature to “break the law” and elect Trump voters instead of Biden supporters when the 16 electoral votes from the state will be officially listed. GOP lawmakers have said they will not.

Some of the hundreds of people present at the Capitol carried signs saying “stop the flight”.

“I trust the system,” said Melanie Baker of Warren Detroit News. “I don’t trust the politicians behind the system at all.”
