A former E! The news anchor announced that she had tested positive for Covid-19 despite receiving a full set of vaccines.
Catt Sadler, 46, took to her Instagram account to let her followers know that despite being fully vaccinated, she had contracted coronavirus, suspected of being the Delta variant.
“I am fully vaccinated and I have Covid,” she captioned the selfie she posted from her sick bed.
Ms Sadler continued, outlining her rationale for informing everyone about her condition
“I am telling you this so that you understand that the pandemic is not over at all.”
As of July 13, 3,093 cases and 30 deaths were recorded in California, the data showed. Currently, the rate of coronavirus in the state is 4.3 per 100,000 people.
She called the variant she had, believed to be Delta, “relentless” and “highly contagious.” According to data released on July 14, the Delta variant accounts for 58% of all coronavirus cases in the United States. In May, it was thought to represent 3% of cases.
“I was taking care of someone who contracted Covid (although at the time we thought it was just the flu) – so I came in close contact with the virus, but I was wearing a mask, and once again I am fully vaccinated. I assumed I would be fine, ”she said of how she came into contact with Covid.
The message was accompanied by a description of her symptoms, which Ms. Sadler described as “not mild” and listed them to follow; “Two days of fever now. The throbbing head. Extreme size. Even a little weird pus coming out of my eye. Severe fatigue; no energy to even get out of bed.
Urging her followers to continue wearing a mask within the recommended settings, such as in a crowd or indoors, that’s how she signed off on her post.
“I am not a doctor but I am here to remind you that the vaccine is not complete proof,” Ms. Sadler wrote. “Vaccines reduce the risk of hospitalization and death, but you can still catch this thing. So keep protecting yourself.
Ms Sadler’s claim is supported by preliminary data released by the CDC last week at a press briefing led by director Dr Rachel Wolensky. Data showed that 99.5% of coronavirus deaths were from people considered unvaccinated. No timetable was given for the investigation period.
California health professionals have expressed the need to increase immunization levels in the state as a way to fight the pandemic, as has Dr. Erica Pan, state epidemiologist. Currently, 60 percent of the state’s population is fully immunized.
“We really need to move the dial on vaccinations. It is still our way out of this pandemic, ”she said during a panel on July 13.
