It was the fifth time of the season that the Twins scored five or more home runs in a game, making it the first major league team to accomplish this feat before June 1st.
Buxton and Schoop each finished with five RBIs, while Cron, who also doubled and flew to the warning lane on the left, finished with four. Miguel Sano also dominated the match, and Marwin Gonzalez scored a brace with a double as Minnesota had 19 hits while extending his winning streak to a record five games.
Tyler Duffey (1-0) won the victory in relief of Jose Berrios, who failed to get the five innings needed to win the win, while he had a 15-0 lead at the fifth inning. It was also the last time Minnesota had scored five or more points in consecutive heats.
Cron opened the scoring with the 100th circuit of his career, and Buxton made it 5-0 with the second grand slam of his career. Cron then led the third goal with his second run in two sets and 12th of the season to bring the lead to 6-0. Sano followed with a solo shot, and Schoop added a three-run run to make it 10-0.
The Twins increased their lead to 12-0 in the fourth over the RBI singles by Jason Castro and Buxton, and 15-0 thanks to double thanks to a Cron double and an attempt to sacrifice Sano.
Seattle beat the ball and had six hits – including a single RBI from Edwin Encarnacion, who finished with three hits – while scoring four points and chasing Berrios to 15-4 in the fifth.
Schoop scored a two-run run in the sixth and Eddie Rosario scored a singles in eighth to score the end.
Rescuer Tom Murphy scored a ninth 1-2-3 for the Mariners, including both goals from Sano and Castro.
