SANTA FE, MN (AP) – Health officials in New Mexico said two people who received a facial injection in the same spa were infected with HIV.

The New Mexico Department of Health announced Monday in a press release that two VIP Spa customers in Albuquerque who had received "vampire facials" last year had recently been infected with the same virus. HIV.

Officials said the two people attended the spa between May and September 2018.

The spa typically provided vampire facials, in which the client's blood was injected into the face to replenish the skin.

According to the agency, more than 100 people have already been tested for HIV, hepatitis B and C. The test is free and confidential.

The VIP spa closed in September after state agencies discovered problems handling and disposing of needles.
