Type 2 diabetes: treatment includes adding berberine to the diet

[ad_1]

Type 2 diabetes communicates two things on your body: either your pancreas does not make enough insulin, or the insulin it produces is not absorbed by the cells. Insulin regulates blood sugar – the main type of sugar in your blood. While it may sound academic, high blood sugar can have very real implications if left untreated.

High blood sugar can cause permanent damage to parts of the body such as the eyes, nerves, kidneys, and blood vessels.

It is therefore imperative to find ways to compensate for the low production of insulin to avoid the risk of serious complications.

Part of the key to blood sugar control lies in the food decisions you make.

It’s important to focus on your holistic approach, but the evidence suggests that there are some things that are essential.

Supplementing with berberine – a bioactive compound that can be extracted from several different plants – has been shown to be remarkably effective.

Five hundred milligrams of berberine taken three times a day has been compared to 500 mg of metformin taken three times a day.

As Mr Brown reports, the results showed that after three months, the HbA1c actually fell more in the berberine group than in the metformin group (2% and 1.5% respectively).

Fasting blood sugar (a test to determine the amount of glucose (sugar) in a blood sample after an overnight fast) and fasting insulin also improved the most in the berberine group compared to the metformin group. .

Berberine was also effective in lowering triglycerides and total cholesterol in this study, notes Brown.

Type 2 diabetes – how to spot it

Many people have type 2 diabetes without realizing it – that’s because the symptoms don’t necessarily hurt you.

According to the NHS, symptoms of type 2 diabetes can include:

  • Pissing more than usual, especially at night
  • Be thirsty all the time
  • Feeling very tired
  • Lose weight without trying to
  • Itching around your penis or vagina, or repeated yeast infection
  • Cuts or sores that take longer to heal
  • Blurred vision.

The health care organization advises you to see a general practitioner if you have any of the symptoms of type 2 diabetes or if you are concerned that you may be at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

“The earlier diabetes is diagnosed and treatment started, the better,” he adds.
