In the most grueling test of his undefeated career, Tyson Fury stepped off the canvas twice in a disastrous Round 4 to co-write one of the most thrilling heavyweight title fights in history boxing.
In the third and final fight of their memorable trilogy, Fury overcame early damage to drop Deontay Wilder twice before ending him with a fierce Round 11 knockout to defend his WBC and Linear titles inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs), who was leading on all three scorecards (95-91, 94-92, 95-92) at the time of the stoppage, was forced to overcome an almost inhuman resistance shown by Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) in the first fight for the two since Fury won by TKO in their rematch in 2020.
“Like the great John Wayne said, I’m made of pig, iron and steel, baby!” said Fury. “I took some big hits, but my Lord and Savior helped me get up and keep going. It was a big fight tonight and it is worthy of any trilogy in the history of the sport. “
Wilder, 35, rebounded from being abandoned in round 3 to take a lead in the next round with clean right hands and an aggressive style built on a focus on the body. But Fury used his nearly 40-pound weight advantage, along with two inches of height and reach, to slowly carry Wilder up, cleverly holding him and leaning on him against the ropes.

The more Fury closed the distance and prevented Wilder from extending his long arms to produce power, the more success he had with maiming on the inside and making it consistently difficult for referee Russell Mora to separate the two.
Suddenly, a tired Wilder looked endlessly on the verge of being arrested. His incredible willingness to keep fighting somehow kept him on his feet and Wilder fidgeted at key moments just enough to keep Fury honest.
Mora asked the ring doctor to examine Wilder before round 9. Then, in round 10, Fury dropped the puncher from 6ft 7in for the second time when he caught him balanced with a short hand. law.
True to the script, however, Wilder got back on his feet and closed the 10th round with a big gust that briefly wavered Fury. But the return was short-lived. Fury entered the championship rounds on offense and cornered Wilder with ease.
A big right hand early in the 11th round rocked Wilder against the ropes. A two-hit combo followed, ending with a short, brutal right hand that sent Wilder to the ground for the third time and appeared to briefly knock him out.
Mora jumped at 1:10 to stop the fight without counting as Wilder started to fidget and attempt to get up once more.
“October 9, 2021 will go down in history as a big fight,” Fury said. “Never doubt me. When the chips are low, I can always deliver.”
Fury topped Wilder by a 150-72 margin, according to CompuBox. He also had a 36-9 advantage in jabs.
After the fight, a tired Wilder sat in his corner on the stool with blood dripping from his left ear. Fury attempted to congratulate his wounded foe following a typically combative promotional build that saw the promoter refuse to allow them to face off during Fight Week.
“Deontay Wilder is so tough but he doesn’t like me because I beat him three times,” Fury said. “I’m a sportsman, I went to show him love and respect but he didn’t want to give it back to me.”
Both fighters said ahead of the fight that the third fight will be the last in their rivalry. Fury settled for a contested draw when they first met in 2018 before scoring back-to-back knockouts.
