The health agency will change emergency authorizations for the two vaccines as early as Thursday to allow immunocompromised people to get an additional dose, according to the report, citing people familiar with the matter.
The agency is closely monitoring data as it becomes available from studies administering an additional dose of authorized COVID-19 vaccines to immunocompromised people, FDA spokeswoman Abby Capobianco said in a statement. communicated.
“The FDA, along with the CDC, is evaluating potential options on this issue and will share information in the near future,” Capobianco said.
An advisory group from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will meet on Friday to review data on booster doses in people who are immunocompromised. While no votes are on the draft meeting agenda, the Federal Register entry indicated that a recommendation vote is expected.
