Middle-aged stress reduces the brain and damages memory

Researchers have found that stress-induced cerebral contractions, identified in 40-year-olds with no evidence of dementia, are caused by cortisol.
The study found that high levels of stress hormone can be a precursor to dementia. According to a Harvard Medical School study published in the journal Neurology, stress worsens people's thinking skills

The scientists, led by Dr. Justin Hiho-Chigui, studied 2231 people aged 49 years on average without dementia. The team confirmed that the study found signs of amnesia and narrowing of the brain in middle-aged people before the onset of dementia symptoms.
