The life of a young French woman in her twenties became a tragedy after taking a small penicillin antibiotic while she was suffering from tonsillitis in Avignon, in the south of France.
According to the Daily Mail, the young woman, Camille Leger, was suffering from a rare skin syndrome called "desquamation of toxic epidermal necrosis" after taking a penicillin antibiotic. This secondary reaction of the drug separates the outer layer of the skin from the layer underneath, and the young British spent several weeks in the hospital after being surprised by the second degree burns.
No members of Leger were born after the interaction. Burns spread to the tongue and trachea. Because of this critical condition, she was forced to stay wrapped in bandages for a long time.
Liger had already taken the same antibiotic in the past but felt nothing abnormal other than what had happened recently.
