WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Three huge asteroids will fly near the planet this week, the US space agency announced on Tuesday, asteroids reaching a maximum of 30 meters, to cross the planet on Saturday, November 10. 14:03 GMT.
The asteroid should measure between 13 and 28 meters – suggesting that the asteroid could be five times longer than the giraffe and that it should be at a distance of 861,700 km from the Earth at the nearest intersection.
16 minutes after the VS1 2018 asteroid passes next to Earth, another asteroid named VR1 2018 will pass: this asteroid is expected to reach 30 meters, but will travel 3.12 million miles from Earth.
Finally, at 18:21 GMT, an asteroid called 201X VX1 will cross 17 meters wide and will grow to 237,037 miles of our planet.
Although these distances may seem huge, NASA calls them "close approaches," said the space agency: "Near-Earth objects can sometimes approach the Earth.
