Italian antitrust authorities have fined Apple and Samsung $ 17 million for certain updates.

Apple has $ 11.5 million in power, while Samsung has $ 5.7 million.

The Daily Mail newspaper quoted a statement from the Italian competition authority that condemned what she called "unfair practices regarding certain software updates installed on her mobile phones".

"The problem is that both companies are pushing users to download and install new software updates on their devices, resulting in serious failures and a significant reduction in phone performance," the report says.

According to reports, many consumers have complained about these updates, which is a "trap for customers to buy new devices."

"The two companies failed to provide customers with sufficient information about the impact of the new update on the phone's performance or on any other way to restore the product's original function," said the Antimonopoly Authority.

The TRA also said that "its delicate decision comes after both companies have submitted software updates slowing down the operation of their smartphones."
