Researchers from King's College from London conducted a German and Spanish study, confirmed that eating berries can reduce the risk of heart disease.

The researchers tested blood and urine in participants before drinking juice, two hours after drinking, and a day later.

Participants who consumed berry drink, after two hours, showed better fibrillation of the arteries (FMD), which is the widening of the artery when blood flow increases, which is an indicator of vascular endothelial health.

Researchers believe that if berries are able to alter the expansion of arteries long enough, it will reduce the risk of heart disease up to 15%.

Another analysis showed that there was a marked increase in serum urolithine levels of participants with improved arterial expansion. This process is produced by intestinal bacteria, where the body reacts to a chemical present in berries called ellagitannins.

These results are added to the growing list of evidence on the benefits of eating raspberry, especially red.
