NASA has released a rare image of the Earth during the rotation of the International Space Station (ISS) at an altitude of over 250 km above Australia.
An astronaut aboard the space station photographed the photo on October 7 and was published by NASA on its website last Tuesday.
The photo shows a rare phenomenon known as the "air rocket", a common light line extending from 50 to 400 km into the atmosphere.
This phenomenon usually occurs when particles (mainly nitrogen and oxygen) are activated by the ultraviolet rays of the sun's rays to release that energy. At the same time, the atoms collide with the Low atmosphere and lose energy when the collision causes a "flare".
