Scientists at the American Dana-Farber Institute of Cancer Research have discovered molecular targets in malignant tumor cells for two types of cancer that can not be treated.

According to MedicalXpress, synovial sarcoma (a rare type of soft tissue cancer frequently detected in young people) and tumors of children under 2 years old affect the brain, kidneys and other body organs.

The researchers found that synovial sarcoma and pediatric tumors were due to the reconstitution of chromatin in the ncBAF compound, which regulates the activity of several genes and plays an important role in the conditioning of chromatin, a compound chromosome of DNA, RNA and proteins.

The researchers also discovered the presence of BRD9 and GLTSCR1 in the ncBAF compound, unique subunits not present in similar compounds.

Inhibition of these units with the help of auxiliary compounds prevents the division and proliferation of malignant cells and thus slows the progression of the disease.

Scientists hope their discoveries will help develop new methods of treating synovial sarcoma and pediatric tumors.
