PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Uber online paging service is preparing to become public. The company recently unveiled some of its key financial data for 2018.

Last year, Uber booked $ 50 billion worth of rides and meals, but even that total was not enough to keep the company out of the red.

Uber recorded a loss of $ 1.8 billion.

The company attributed this loss to investments outside its core business, such as bicycles, scooters and shipping.
