The marathon sprint that is the group stage of the Champions League is coming to an end. Matchday five arrives on Tuesday with eight games across the continent as Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Ajax all face a bit of pressure to secure victories, while a few teams are poised to clinch places in the round of 16.

Case for Lokomotiv Moscow: Salzburg absolutely must win to have any chance of qualifying for the Europa League while Loko have been tough to beat despite their inability to win and can still reach the knockout stage. I see a Russian victory because of a leaking Austrian defense. – Jonathan Johnson

Shakhtar Donetsk v Real Madrid

Case for Real Madrid: A game Real Madrid must win, for more than one reason. The return of Karim Benzema helps and despite the injuries (Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, Federico Valverde, Dani Carvajal etc) I think Los Blancos are doing enough to secure a win against a Shakhtar side who have lost the last two matches of the Champions League. – Luis Miguel Echegaray

Case for the draw: When the two teams met in Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk came away with a victory, which means visitors are hungry for revenge. However, an away win will be tough with Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos and Federico Valverde all sidelined for injury. – Thomas Rongen

Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich

Time: Tuesday, 3 p.m. ET (CBS All Access)

Case for Atletico Madrid: Bayern Munich will almost surely turn the team around as they have already qualified for the knockout stage. With Atletico also resting for key players like Joao Felix last weekend, Diego Simeone knows it’s a must-have victory to secure second place in the group. – Luis Miguel Echegaray

Case for Bayern Munich: Atleti have been a surprisingly competent attacking team this season and Bayern have nothing to play with. But Bayern, even with a strongly renewed squad, are the best in the world. – Mike L. Goodman

Borussia Monchengladbach v Inter Milan

Time: Tuesday, 3 p.m. ET (CBS All Access)

Case for Borussia Monchengladbach: If anyone can explain about Antonio Conte and the Champions League just let me know, I would like to know. Likewise, it’s easy to see why dynamic attacking players like Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea (if available) have been such a hit on the European stage. Why shouldn’t this continue against an Inter side who need to know they are eliminated? – James Benge

Case for Inter Milan: This group is still wide open. Away from home and in need of a win, it will be interesting to see how cautious Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan start the game against a Borussia side who have scored eight goals in their last two games. I think they’re going to be able to take the pressure off and hit Die Fohlen at the break, and I think this one ends 2-1 for the visitors. – Aaron West

Porto v Manchester City

Time: Tuesday, 3 p.m. ET (CBS All Access)

Case for Manchester City: Are Pep Guardiola’s Man City finally reaching its rhythm? They crushed Burnley 5-0 in the Premier League this weekend and last week although they only scored once they outscored Olympiacos. Look for more of the same. – Mike L. Goodman

Case for the draw: Porto welcome Manchester City knowing that a draw seals their place in the next round. I think that’s exactly what we’ll get, but I think it will be fun. – Aaron West

Marseille against Olympiacos

Time: Tuesday, 3 p.m. ET (CBS All Access)

Case for Marseille: Marseille will want to lose their unwanted 13-game losing streak as soon as possible, and they can still catch Olympiacos for the Europa League place – if they want to. – Jonathan Johnson

Case for Olympiacos: The way things are going for them right now, I can’t really predict anything other than another loss for Marseille. It’s painful to watch. – James Benge

Atalanta v. Central jutland

Time: Tuesday, 3 p.m. ET (CBS All Access)

Case for Atalanta: Gian Piero Gasperini’s guys are so tired after playing all three days which they are not used to but they will win this one thanks to their best player: Papu Gomez. – Fabrizio Romano

Case for the draw: Midtylland is another who has been better than his record suggests, while Atalanta has been an unpredictable machine so far this year. Despite all their qualities, they could be caught off guard on Tuesday. – James Benge

Liverpool v Ajax

Time: Tuesday, 3 p.m. ET (CBS All Access)

Case for Liverpool: Liverpool do not concede penalties in this one and thrive in attack, scoring multiple goals for just the second time in their last five games. – Roger Gonzalez

Case for Ajax: The Amsterdammers aim to build on a routine 3-1 win over Midtjylland, and they will take advantage of the fact that the hosts will be without three important defenders in Tuesday’s clash. – Thomas Rongen
