A seemingly significant portion of UFC 257 buyers ran into issues on Saturday night as they tried to watch pay-per-view, with some outages continuing nicely in the main card.
UFC 257 looked a lot like Conor McGregor’s other pay-per-view events. The trending numbers, according to UFC President Dana White, were out of the ordinary.
On Saturday, however, some US users struggled to watch the fights – even after paying $ 69.99 for pay-per-view on ESPN +. The technical difficulties were widespread enough that the term “PPV” became trending on Twitter.
For some users, the duration of the blackout persisted for a significant portion of the main five-fight map, with several missed fights.
Hopeful viewers, including UFc fighters and MMA media members, took to Twitter to voice their grievances and seek help. The ESPN + help Twitter account was inundated with comments and tags.
I struggled to get UFC PPVs to work through ESPN + from the start. Multiple refills, double charges, long discussions with tech support… literally every time.# UFC257 is officially the worst yet. I bought it hours in advance, it is now 9:23 am and I still can’t get it to work.

ESPN + Help released a statement just over 80 minutes after the pay-perv-view, which informed buyers that it was working to resolve the issues.
We are currently investigating streaming issues affecting some customers. Our teams are actively working to get affected viewers back to streaming as soon as possible.

UFC 257 took place on Saturday at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The main card aired on ESPN + pay-per-view after preliminaries on ESPN and ESPN +.
