The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues its meteoric start until 2021 tomorrow evening (Wednesday, January 20, 2021) with its second of three events in the space of a week. This time around, former Lightweight Michael Chiesa is looking to settle at 170 pounds against veteran Neil Magny, while The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Brazil” winner Warlley Alves tries to put a brutal loss behind him. at the expense of Mounir Lazzez in sharp rise. UFC Fight Island 8 also features a pair of intriguing flyweight fights pitting Viviane Araujo and Tyson Nam against Roxanne Modafferi and Matt Schnell, respectively.

What went wrong UFC Fight Island 7?
Man, it sucks to properly call an upset and watch things go up in smoke when a big favorite gets caught. Joaquin Buckley’s knockout loss (watch highlights) left us in deficit, although a combination of good work from Ramazan Emeev and questionable judgments towards Carlos Felipe limited the losses.

Thoughts: On a sub-map full of unknown quantities, Manon Fiorot stands out as a good deal. “The Beast” actually opened up as an underdog, which would have been a great investment all time, but still worth your money. Her strike definitely outclasses that of Victoria Leonardo and she’s a pretty robust counter-wrestler, which combines with her efficient footwork to eliminate Leonardo’s ground play.
She is the anchor of this event.
Tom Breese is also worth your time. He is a much better boxer than Omari Akhmedov and appears to be a wrestler skillful enough to stop “Wolverine” from doing his “two-round cover” and desperately surviving the third routine. Although too mercurial to recommend a major investment, a place on “The Octopus” does make sense.

Thoughts: This is the third time that Tyson Nam and Matt Schnell have been booked to fight, but luckily the bookies still haven’t figured it out. Between his overwhelming power, excellent defense against submission, and his recent willingness to let go, Nam is perfectly equipped to defeat Schnell, who was violently knocked out three times in the Octagon.
If you want a big favorite that won’t let you down, go for Viviane Araujo. The Brazilian’s top-notch defense against withdrawal and the dangerous, heavy-hitting style on the move worked perfectly against Montana De La Rosa last time around, and Modafferi displays similar strengths and weaknesses. Also, if you are superstitious, Modafferi has alternated defeats and victories since 2017 and comes out of a win, so the universe is on “Vivi’s” side.
