Conor McGregor was first pictured in public in Los Angeles on Wednesday after successfully undergoing surgery this week to repair several broken leg bones suffered in his first round loss to Dustin Poirier over the weekend.

The images, released on Thursday, show the Irishman being helped out of the car and into a wheelchair.

McGregor was pulled out of the cage on a stretcher at the end of the first round after injuring his leg against Poirier during UFC 264 on Saturday night. Poirier was awarded a technical knockout via a doctor’s stoppage due to a horrific leg snap, which appeared to break just above his ankle.

McGregor has been active on social media since the fight, recently claiming he was already injured ahead of the highly anticipated rematch.

“I was injured before I got into a fight. People would ask me ‘when did my leg break?’ “When did the leg break?” Ask Dana White. Ask the UFC. Ask Dr. Davidson – the UFC chief medical officer. I had a stress fracture in my leg by entering that cage. There was talk of removing the thing, “he said in an Instagram video.

McGregor said he would wear crutches for at least six weeks before he could start “rebuilding.” He promised to make a comeback.

UFC President Dana White has suggested the duo could possibly return for a fourth fight.

“The fight didn’t end,” White said, via addicted to mma. “You can’t end a fight this way. We’ll see how it all plays out. Who knows how long Conor is out, then Poirier will do his thing until Conor is ready.”
