Investigators said camera video showed that a man physically assaulted her, took her cell phone and groped her. The man fled when two other people entered the area.

Police released a photo of the suspect, which they later identified as Tritavious Malik Harris.

Harris was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and battery, kidnapping, sexual assault and battery, common assault, and criminal trespass.

Police said they were able to make an arrest so quickly thanks to advice and appeals from the public.

Although Harris has been arrested, many UGA students are still concerned for their safety.

“Athens at night is super dangerous,” student Izzy Wagner said Tom Jones of Channel 2. “People are starting to notice it looks like Atlanta. Like how bad the crime is.

Students say the downtown area has had its share of problems as crime continues to rise in this area.

“He could be a student, but I think he probably lives downtown, maybe he’s from off campus,” student Joseph Kopsho said.

The students say they are wholeheartedly with the victim of this attack, but they want something done about the crime.

“The consistency with which this occurs and the frequency with which it occurs is very shocking and very alarming,” Wagner said.
