The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team on Saturday night split a two-game series against Southern California, losing to the Trojans 21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 at the SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
For the seventh time in eight games this season, Brooke Van Sickle led the Rainbow Wahine in kills, scoring 12 to go along with a five-block record. Amber Igiede added 11 kills for Hawaii, which only hit 0.156 against 0.234 for USC.
UH, who won an equally close four-set game against USC on Friday night, fell to 3-5.
Brooke Botkin and Emilia Weske each had 16 kills, and Candice Denny had 10 kills and seven blocks for USC (4-4).
Rainbow Wahine’s next Big West conference game at UC Riverside on September 23.
