In the photo, Ultima Thule, the subject of the Kuiper belt that is currently receiving intense attention from the New Horizons ship.
To make the photo, the technicians cleverly combined two sets of photos taken by the long-range reconnaissance imager (LORRI) of the camera, taken 25 minutes apart. Their juxtaposition creates a fun stereo view of the object, officially known as the 2014 MU69.
