UPDATE: All of University Medical Center’s last 4,000 immunization appointments were made in just over five minutes of online registration live at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
A spokesperson said that the UMC website had around 33,000 people who attempted to log in when registration opened.
ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas – El Paso University Medical Center has announced that it will set up an appointment recording Tuesday at 6 p.m. for the first 4,000 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine just received.
Registration will open at 6 p.m. on UMCelpaso.org for people in state immunization categories 1A, 1B, and 1C, which include school and child care staff, healthcare workers, first responders, any person aged 50 and over or others with certain underlying health conditions.
A UMC spokesperson said it was expected, like past registration events, that the 4,000 vaccination appointments would be filled within minutes.
The UMC website will only accept registrations until all open appointments are scheduled. After this point, the site will close access.
In addition, UMC will organize a special phone meeting on Thursday at 9 a.m. for seniors without internet access.
At that time, seniors can register by calling 915-200-2700. The phone number will close after available appointments (725 by phone) on Thursday.
These may be the final UMC registration events as they work on a consolidated registration process with the City of El Paso expected to be ready soon.
